Just joined this forum. I'm pretty much a Finale noob. Here's my first post.
I adjusted my score's system-breaks using the measure tool, and checking "Begin a new staff system" to break the systems where I wanted them to break.
So far so good.
I then went into the parts and needed to create different system-breaks, using both the above process and also using the Utilities/Move measures to previous system function. I essentially made the parts have fewer measures per staff system than the score.
However, when I went back to the score, the score reflected all the changes I made in the parts. How do I unlink the parts from the score, where staff/system breaks are concerned?
Am I using the correct process to make those changes?

Indeed you are not using the “correct process”.
The measure attribute “Begin a New Staff System” is supposed to be linked between score and parts.
You can use “Begin a New Staff System” to begin a new movement.
The correct mean for what you are doing, is {system locks}:
Utilities menu > Lock Systems
System locks can be different between score and parts.

Thanks, that fixed it! I appreciate it.
One more question. Say I have an staff with 8 measures on it, and I would like to split it so that it is now 4 measures on two staves, and I want all the music after to move forward.
With the above method, I have to move four measures down, then move another four measures down, and so on for every line. Is there an "insert line break" type of command?

What I would do:
(Selection Tool)
1) Select the eight measures.
2) Utilities menu > Fit Measures… (⇧⌘M)
Lock the selected measures with 4 measures per system.
