To a quarter-note top-line F I want to add a fourth-line D below the F, as if I were building a chord. In Windows, I'd place the cursor on the D line below the F and press enter. In Mac, I press fn-Enter to do that. Pressing just the Enter key Currently moves the cursor down a staff. How do I change that in Mac so that pressing the Enter key adds a note to a chord at the crossbar?

Arthur,

I suppose that you are talking about the Speedy Entry Tool, right?

I am not sure what is going on with your Mac.

For me, the Return key moves the cursor down a staff, while the Enter key adds a note.

Take a look at the keyboard shortcuts displayed in the sub-menus:

Speedy menu > Speedy Edit Commands > Add Note ⌅ (here I see the Enter key symbol)

Speedy menu > Speedy Navigation > Down Staff ↩︎ (here I see the Return key symbol)

Building a chord is sure easier in Simple! All I need to do tap the number row for an interval above, or Shift-number for an interval below.

Thanks, Peter and Mike. I assumed that "Return" was also "Enter." But I see on my keyboard with numeric pad, there's a return key AND an enter key.
It's still a bit cumbersome and slow, but I'm getting increasingly more comfortable working in Mac--I just have to keep doing it and establish new habits. Thanks again.
