Hi,
I am using a trial version of Finale 2012. Can anyone advise how do you add Chord Symbol such as half diminished chord symbol?
I know how to create a text box but that's about it. The menu says keyboard shortcut is Alt0247 but where to enter and how? I tried entering inside the text box itself but didn't work.
Rgds,
WD

Welcome to the forum!
For chord symbols, use the Chord Tool (icon: CM7).
The fonts that are used for Root and Alteration (= accidental), are document settings:
Document menu > Document Options > Fonts > Chord > …
You can also set a font for chord suffixes, but this setting only affects new suffixes.
Already existing suffixes are not affected.
You can create your own chord suffixes - in the Chord Suffix Editor.
Or you can use ready made suffixes from a library.
Libraries are document specific (not program specific).
To load a library:
File menu > Load Library…
Finale comes with several ready made chord suffix libraries, using different fonts.
Most of the Finale templates (like e. g. the Default Document) already have a chord suffix library loaded.
You can find a suffix for half diminished in most chord suffix libraries, but perhaps not the exact version (= font and characters) you prefer.
I could tell you more if I knew, what font and characters you prefer.

Hi Peter.
I can't seem to find the CM7 icon. I wonder if it's because I am using a trial version?
I don't have a preference for the fonts as long I can get my chord symbols to work. Thanks.

Are you perhaps not using the “full Finale”, but rather the “baby version” Finale NotePad?
NotePad does not have Finale’s Chord Tool.
