I will get an iPad soon. One thing I will use it for is editing sheet music on the go. What app do you use for this? Is there one that makes it easy to use finale on my computer and exchange files? Or is the only way to use Notion for both devices and live with the inferior typesetting?

Notion is about it. There may be others, but I don’t think any of them have been around as long as that one.

No Finale. Don’t ask. Please.

I am aware that there's no finale for iPad. I just thought there might be something that plays nice with finale (by exchanging xml files without destroying the formatting or something like that). I own notion on my laptop and it's just extremely annoying, how one does have no say what so ever regarding the engraving and the automatic result looks very unprofessional.

I use SymphonyPro. I tried Notion, but wasn't that keen. SP is very nice, and has a number of input styles. Even a handwriting mode, if you want to take your time.

Both SymphonyPro and Notion will export XML, so that you can sort them out in Finale later.

I’ve had Notion since the beginning. It works and supports the Apple Pencil as do all current iPads nowadays (I don’t use it). Originally free, it’ now up to $14.99.
