Finale V25
ASUS Laptop
Windows 10 64 bit

I couldn't find this topic in the forum so I'm asking for help.
How do I transfer my current Finale work load to a new computer?

Thanks for your help with this.

I do this a lot. It (currently) takes three steps.

First: make sure that Finale is installed and registered on the target computer. (Also make sure any libraries and the like are there.)

Second: copy your Finale source (.musx) files to a USB thumb drive (or similar).

Third: copy the Finale source files from the thumb drive to the target computer. Install in a folder of choice.

Until the last update of Windows 10, I transferred electronically but that's been broken. Microsoft promises a fix but I don't know when.

Do I have to transfer each tune in Finale by itself or can I transfer everything at once?
I'm not sure what to do.

You can copy them all to your flash drive, and move them all at once.

Well I got a new sandisk cruzer 64 GB to accomplish the move and...
after fooling around with it, I am nowhere.
I searched the web for direction, couldn't make anything work and am sad about the whole thing.
I tried loading one tune and after 30 minutes of the blinking red light, got nothing.
Any suggestions?

Can't you just highlight, drag, and drop the files onto the thumb drive? What exactly happens when you try to do that? Is the thumb drive formatted correctly for your operating system?

Can you copy the files to a CD or DVD and then transfer them that way?

It's cumbersome, but you could try emailing the files to yourself and placing them in the correct folder on the new computer.

How about using a cloud storage service like box.net to move your files?

Perhaps the thumb drive needs to be formatted.

I don't know from Macs, but surely you can network them with Ethernet.

Thanks for the replies.
I got that fixed, but now can't get the Garritan stuff to load.
Sent a ticket to Finale for help.

Reinstall Finale and Aria/Garritan. This will reset any paths to default.

What specifically isn't working when you "load" a Garritan library?

Have you followed instructions here: https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... PrintMusic
