Using AlphaNote Notenames

I am trying to use the AlphaNote Notenames feature from the Education template. When I try to enter a note I get this message: "Unhandled exception caught."
I am using a Mac and Finale 2012

What is your Mac OS?

It is well known that there are conflicts/incompatibilities between Finale 2012 and Mac OS Sierra 10.12.
I am surprised that you could make Finale 2012 run at all in Sierra 10.12.
You can downgrade Mac OS or upgrade Finale.
I would upgrade Finale.
