I'm on Finale 2014.5 for Mac. I created an orchestral score with pairs of winds and brass on one staff (Flute 1–2, Trumpet 1–2, etc.), including one staff for horn 1 and 2 and another staff for horn 3 and 4. Once the document was created, I changed the names of the staves from "Flute" to "Flute 1–2", and so on. I tried to change the names of the horn staves to "Horn in F 1–2" and "Horn in F 3–4", but because they originated as Horn 1 and Horn 2 when the document was created, they come out as "Horn in F 1–2 1" and "Horn in F 3–4 2". That is, it adds the number to whatever name I create. Is there any way to get rid of them?

Go to the score manager and uncheck "Auto Number Style" for each staff.
