I bought a new laptop with a 4K screen and like the extra room on screen. Items in the Win 10 GUI are small but readable as are those in apps like MS-Word and other programs. So I do not want to adjust the display. But the icons in Finale are tough to distinguish. I looked in Program Options for a setting to enlarge the icons or toolbars a little but found nothing. Is there some other place that I can look to make the items in the toolbars larger?

Is "Use large tool icons" checked in Preferences/Palettes and backgrounds?

I selected the "Cool Black" style and "Large" size, but the icons remain unclear, and the text in Score Manager is microscopic (see attachment). Since all my other programs adapt well to my new PC, I suspect Finale 2012's algorithms were myopic.

The improvement after increasing the "Text, apps & other items" setting from the recommended 250% to 300% was negligible. So I lowered the display resolution from 3,840 x 2160 to 2048 x 1152 and then to 1920 x 1080 that was not much better. If I degrade the display any further, the toolbars in all my other programs look unacceptably gigantic.

Is there anything else I can try in Finale, or must I upgrade to the latest version Finale? If the latter be the case, has MakeMusic added the ability to enlarge the GUI, icons and text for use with a 4K screen?

Something might be amiss with the Score Manager text.

Do you use a 4K screen, and Finale appears OK? If so, I will upgrade.

Some users do have issues with the current version of Finale on 4K and 5K monitors. They are in the minority but the only way you will know is to take MikeR’s advice.

To quote a Makemusic representative on their forum about what should be included Finale 26 :
...collision avoidance issues, Mac performance and hi-resolution monitor work.
