Playback in wrong octaves.

Hi, I'm using Finale Version 25 on a Mac, and whenever I write music for Glockenspiel/Bells and use the "Glockenspiel (Brass Mallets)" from the Tapspace sounds, the playback of middle c for example, will be several octaves down. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Glockenspiels transpose 2 octaves lower than written. Starting with Finale 25, there's the option to keep instruments with octave transpositions transposed when the score is in concert pitch. So while Finale displays other instruments in concert pitch, it still transposes instruments like glockenspiels 2 octaves lower.

To turn this off, uncheck Document > Keep Octave Transposition in Concert Pitch.

Hope this helps.

I think the issue here is the sample. I have noticed that the sample for some VST instruments was not done at concert pitch, but transposed pitch. For that situation, I needed to do a special staff setup to accommodate the programming mistake.

Maybe that is not what's happening here. I will test it and report back when I'm able.

This worked, thank you!

Please examine the attached file as a demo of the issue regarding Tapspace Glockenspiel. The sample is already transposed, so one must set the transposition to None for the Tapspace Glock to look and play correctly. Ignore the Yellow notes if you have Finale set to show out of range notes. Finale doesn't understand the situation so doesn't know how to handle it.

Hmm. Maybe the problem is that glockenspiels transpose two 8ves higher than written, not two octaves lower, as one of the commenter's said, as perhaps as Finale does? Because that's the problem I'm getting right now. I wrote G4 so I expect to hear G6. Instead I'm hearing something lower.

Also, I tried unchecking "keep octave transposition in concert pitch" and nothing changed.

Check the transposition setting in the Score Manager.
