I am finding that it is a very convoluted and awkward process to change the tempo marking at the beginning of a score. It is very easy to set the original tempo marking in the setup Wizard, but it is very unclear to me how to change the tempo marking after you have started working on a score. Can anyone direct me to a straightforward tutorial on this subject?
Any advice appreciated.

This article will get you started. There is a section dealing with how to set or change the Tempo.
