hey all,
before I dive deep into a score I was going to assign percussion v1 b.d. v2 s.d v3 sus cym.
so..I am wondering if I have to move the stems in the correct position>?
is there a way to program the stem position? I know if I go to utilities and switch stems directions they all go that way. .they meaning: bass drum and snare drum.
hopefully I make sense.
percussion and voice assignments!

Hi jjvibes,
I'd suggest looking into using different layers. Put the snare line in layer 1 and the bass drum in layer 2. Then, by default, the snare drum stems will go up and the bass drum stems will go down.
You can switch layers in the bottom left corner or through View > Switch Layers.
Hope this helps

okay, thanks. I was using layers, but was using sd as layer 2 and bd as layer 1.
what you suggested worked! I didn't know that depending what layer you use will dictate stem directions..
what a hard program..I hope get thru this.
thank you!

You can customize each layer with settings for stem directions, rests, ties &c.jjvibes wrote:… I didn't know that depending what layer you use, will dictate stem directions …
Go to
Document menu > Document Options > Layers
and take a good look at the options.
Use the pop up menu at the top to go through each layer.
NB:
The settings in Document Options are document specific, not program specific.
This is by design, and what users have requested.

Glad to be of help.
By default, layers 1 and 3 will stem up and layers 2 and 4 will stem down.
Of course, you can always change the defaults like Peter noted.
