Hi all,
Every time I open or close Finale 2014, I get the following warning: "One or more auto-saved documents were found".
I've been using Finale for years and now it is the first time I get such an issue. How can I avoid such a warning?
Thanks in advance.

Did Finale crash at some point? If so, look at Preferences/Folders/Temporary Files to see where Finale stores its temporary files, then quit Finale and navigate there in Windows Explorer. If you find a sub-folder called Finale, that's where crash information is found. You can safely delete it.

Thanks to you motet!
Unfortunately, the problem remains the same. No Finale folder was in the tmp folder.
As soon as I open a Finale document, I get the message "One or more auto-saved documents were found".
No matter if I save or not the document, the problem remains when I open a document.

Are you sure you're looking in the right place? There should be a Finale folder in the tmp directory no matter what. When Finale crashes, it puts information there in a subdirectory called CrashReporting.
Quit Finale. In Windows Explorer, go to the C: drive and type CrashReporting (all one word) in the Search box. Delete any directories it finds.

Are the crash reports auto-saved documents? I thought those were .asv files. The .asv files are in the Main Finale document folder. I use a custom setup to keep things more organized.
In order to find .asv files, do a search for them and then you might be able to find where they are. I just did a Windows search for them, and found 4,154. These are files saved when working on Finale projects. I keep them in case I accidentally delete a .mus or .musx file.

Right, but Finale doesn't usually report that there are auto-saved documents, which are normal to have. If there is a crash, it uses auto-save documents. I'm just taking a stab in the dark here about why it's nagging him.

Thanks again motet and everyone for your replies.
I did a CrashReporting search and nothing was found.
There were some Finale files in the tmp folder, but no Finale folder in the tmp folder.
So what I've done, I've deleted the Finale files in the tmp folder and I've created a Finale folder in the same tmp folder.
Since then, I no longer get the opening message "One or more auto-saved documents were found".
However, when I'm closing Finale to save my work, it takes a longer time than usual (I usually get the message "Finale is not responding") and once Finale closes down it reopens suddenly with the standard Finale setup wizard. What could be the problem? Thanks again!

If the problem you experience occurs only with a specific document then the cause may be file corruption.
I also get the "Finale not responding" message but only in heavily edited work. Finale definitely does not like polyphonic flamenco guitar music, with rasgueados, golpes and other custom marks; so when a document becomes unstable, I copy and paste the music into a new document. So far, the option has worked for me. I suspect that Finale also stops responding if I switch tasks too fast, like saving the file as a PDF immediately after saving the *.mus file. But I am only guessing, since the issue surfaces about 10% of the time.

Not in the temp folder. Use Windows to search for finale.ini - that's it. It will be in your user directory tree, something like
C:\Users\Hokestra\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\finale.ini
C:\Users\Hokestra\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\finale.ini

Thanks again motet.
Even after deleting Finale.ini, I'm stuck with the same issue.

I'm guessing it's the crash-reporting file. It sounds from the previous discussion that you didn't take the following advice I gave above. If you haven't, please try that.
Quit Finale. In Windows Explorer, go to the C: drive and type CrashReporting (all one word) in the Search box. Delete any directories it finds.

If the problem occurs when working with all Finale documents, it sounds like you may have to uninstall Finale, purge MakeMusic and Finale footprints from the registry, reboot and then re-install Finale.
