In my masterscore, I have a rallentando marking, and then made a dotted horizontal line to show where the rallentando ends.

In my parts, the 'rall.' indication shows linked, but the horizontal dotted line (which belongs as a normal part of every rall.!), displays in the masterscore but not in the parts.

How can I link the horizontal dotted line so that it appears in all the parts?

If I control-click (right-click - Mac) the line in the score, and select 'Re-link to all parts', it still does not show in the part.

How can I make things appear from score in parts?

Thanks for your help guys. :?

It would be nice to be able to do that, but for now, you're limited to copying smart shapes to all staves. You can hide them in the score (except where you want them to show), though.

One solution: don't use a Smart Shape. Instead, create a new expression in the "Tempo" category which consists of a single hyphen: "-" (without quotes). Put together the dashed line by inserting this expression multiple times into the score. It will appear everywhere, where the tempo category's setting puts it to.

You would run probably into problems within multimeasure rests in parts, but that would be the case with smart shapes as well. It's a basic decision whether to use multimeasure rests at all when tempo changes occur.

The basic design flaw behind is the fact that smart shapes can't be linked to staff lists. We discussed that here in the Finale Feature Requests Forum, at least since January 2017. Feel free to vote for it here to gather all votes in one place.

To follow up to that, unlink the shape in the Score first, then hide it. That way it shows in the Part, but not in the Score.

And also worth mentioning that you can easily copy a smart shape from top staff to the others using the copy filter and paste multiple, which has a "vertically to the bottom of the score" option.

Thanks for the tips guys.

One day in Finale, as professional music notation software, it will be possible to use the standard:

rall.----------------------|

rit.----------------------|

accel.----------------------|

...indications above a bar/measure.
