Can tuplet rests be copy & pasted?

For expediency, I wrote a measure of rests that include complex tuplets, hoping to copy and paste the pattern for the remainder of the rhythm track in the score (track has multiple chordal inversions). I could then overwrite the rests with notes and save time, not having to edit tuplets. But when I copy and paste the measure with tuplet rests, Finale ignores the tuplets and pastes four 1/4 notes. Is there a setting that would allow a faithful copy of such rests?

Since I have no problem with the sample I created, I'm guessing your file has something else going on. Can you post a sample of a misbehaving file?

If I understand you correctly, you wrote a measure of only rests (= no notes), right?Djard wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 4:51 pm… I wrote a measure of rests that include complex tuplets, hoping to copy and paste the pattern for the remainder of the rhythm track in the score (track has multiple chordal inversions)… But when I copy and paste the measure with tuplet rests, Finale ignores the tuplets and pastes four 1/4 notes …
And when you copied and pasted the measure, Finale pasted four quarter notes, right?
I have never before heard of Finale turning rests into notes when pasting.
My guess is that this is a highly unusual behaviour.
I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale sample document here, for the gurus to examine.
If we can examine a Finale document with this unusual “bug”, we might be able to find out, what is going on.

Related tuplet issue:
I recently experienced a problem copying a triplet with a dotted note in it. When copied, the rhythm was changed. Finale support said it it has been a known glitch for some time.

Peter you understood my explanation precisely.
I made a backup copy of the document with the issue then removed all the instruments to reduce the file size, leaving only the track that turns tuplets into 1/4 note rests when copied and pasted (so I could post). The problem disappeared. So I figure some parameter in another instrument caused the issue. I experience no problems copying and pasting compounded tuplets in a new document. I must say that 99% of the problems I experience occur only when the score gets busy or complex.
