How add grace notes while auto correcting the timing

I have a score that I imported from logic, and I'd like to convert some of the ornaments I have into grace notes while auto adding the equivalent rest time in their place. I know how to create grace notes, but I don't know how to customize finale's rest fill in option.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but here is what I would try, recognizing that Finale toggles grace notes: i.e. when overwriting a grace note, it will appear as a regular note. But if you repeat the step, the note will again appear as an ornament. But you may find that Finale will prohibit editing a complete measure. In such case, here is a workaround:

1. Click on "Simple Entry Tool" (icon in upper toolbar).
2. Simple (upper text menu) -> Simple Entry Options -> uncheck "Check for extra notes" and "Fill with rests at end of measure" -> OK.
3. Edit the grace notes (remember to toggle) -> when finished, repeat the steps above and check again the two options.
