I'd like to update my mac to Catalina os. But I have finale version 26.1.0.484. Is it safe to update to Catalina, or do I need to accept the install the latest version - 26.2.2.493 - from Finale first?

Or should I not update to Catalina at all at this point?

That’s completely up to you. Upgrading Finale is free, and it’s fully compatible with Catalina. Will going to Catalina give you any features or capabilities you need? Are you sure that it won’t interfere with any current programs you use?

dlstephmusic,

Do you have any third party plug-ins for Finale, such as e. g. Jari Williamson’s plug-ins?

If the answer is yes, then you may have to do some steps to make the plug-ins work with Catalina

I really appreciate the help. I think I'll update finale and wait on installing catalina. Mohave is working just fine at the time. I just need some expert advice.

There are really only two things you need to know about Catalina and Finale v26.

First, Finale V26.2 is fully compatible with Catalina. Finale V26.1 has a few minor bugs as pointed out in this Finale Blog post.

https://www.finalemusic.com/blog/finale ... ty-update/

The update to Finale V26.2 is free for all Finale v26 users.

Second, third-party plugins are a bit harder to install. That's mainly because of Catalina and not the plugins. Here's a video I made showing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq3Xcpsewhk

And a thread on this forum that discusses this: viewtopic.php?t=18525&p=72723

Other than that, there's no issue upgrading to Catalina. That's what I use.
