Hey again!

Is there a tool for adding strumming strokes above the tab? And can you set it for upstrokes on the &s?

JohnJSherry,

I suggest that you, to make your question clearer, attach a graphic that shows the desired layout.

Some of the users here may not understand (or misunderstand) your verbal description.

Here's what I'm talking about. The Vs are the upstrokes.

Those two symbols can be added as articulations.

If your Finale document was created from the Default Document (=Maestro Font Default), then the symbols are available as ready made articulations, with pre-programmed metatools.

The downstroke symbol has the letter D key as programmed metatool trigger.
To enter it, hold down the letter D key, and drag across the staff.

The upstroke symbol has the letter U key as programmed metatool trigger.
To enter it, hold down the letter U key, and drag across the staff.

That's great! Thank you Peter! Is there an easy way to copy the stroke patterns from one measure to the next?

Try the Copy Filter:

Selection Tool.
Edit menu > Edit Filter…
In the dialog box Edit Filter, select {None}, then select only {Articulations}.
Now, when you copy from one measure to another (e. g. via Option-click), Finale will copy only articulations.

NB:
The setting for the Copy Filter is program specific, not document specific.
This means that the Filter will not automatically get toggled off, when you close the document.

Hence: Remember to toggle the Filter off when you are done (Edit menu > Use Filter).

Got it, Peter! Worked like a charm and I reset the filter when I was done.
