Sudden harsh tones before barlines

Normally I use Finale to make midi files without concerning the tempo in Playback Controls.
Many times Finale seems to "correct" some notes just before the barlines. The result is a sudden short loud tone.
I don't see how I can change this.

This might be a HP issue. Try it without HP. If that is better, you might also try experimenting with using the Apply HP feature, and then exporting to MIDI.

This looks like the MIDI file was played in real time into a DAW, or a keyboard with a MIDI recording capability. In any event, your Topic is about loud sounds before barlines, yet the particular issue in question is not about that, but about a sudden stoppage before the barline. The barline is irrelevant here, as the stoppage is due to the sustain pedal ending. If you look at the MIDI data, sustain pedal was recorded. That's why it is quite sustained throughout, even during rests. At the end of bar 11, the sustain pedal appears to have been released, thus the end of sound there.

P.S.: I renamed your file (many people post Test as a file name here, so it needed further identification). Here's the revised file with the pedal added where the creator of the MIDI file seemed to stop it.

Thank you for specifying the problem and the suggestion how to solve it. Yes, it is the release of the sustain pedal with a stoppage, a sudden “harsh” note or chord as result.
I can’t reproduce it of course but I am quite sure that the sustain pedal release was not intended. The problem always occurs just before a barline. An accidental adjustment of the time signature provides an improvement.

I am not dealing with importing MIDI files too much lately, but in the past, I found it easier to first quantize a MIDI file in a DAW, and then import into Finale. It is harder to quantize in Finale, if even possible. In the old days they had a built in tool, but it was very difficult to use or even understand. They eventually took that tool out.

Making MIDI files was just the reason why I purchased Finale.
So I need a new program again.

Finale is primarily a Notation program. If you entered using Hyperscribe and sticking to the click tempo, then you would have music close to being on the beat. The old feature I mentiond allowed for real time without syncing to the click. After entering, you would then align a click to your free time recording to then get a realistic notation of your recording.
If your goal is MIDI recording without concern for notation, then Finale is not a useful tool. There are free programs, like MuseScore that might work for this kind of MIDI recording i free time, but I don't know. DAW programs are good for that.
So, what is the final goal? Knowing that might help us suggest the best kind of program.

Thank you again.
I will try MuseScore, not a very practical program.
My goal is to make recordings of free improvisations without choosing a tempo or a meter/time signature in advance.
By making "scores" in Finale it is easier for me to perform them again.
Maybe I want to make scores in the future, not my first goal at the moment.

MuseScore is by no means an alternative. It is a notation program too, not a program to make representative MIDI files.
I will look for an other MIDI sequencer program. In the far past Midisoft Studio was a good program for me but it not available for Mac OS.

I think I have found the solution.
I had checked the option Tie across barlines under HyperScribe.
The problem no longer appears to be taking place.
