• What I am trying to do: click on a note and change its time value (e.g., change half to quarter, eighth to quarter).
• What happens: I have to erase the note and enter a new one; however, erasing the note shifts the other notes in the measure and erases the lyric.
• Example: I wrote a half-note for the vocal, but need a dotted-quarter followed by an 8th note rest.

I am sure this is simple, but it is eluding me.

In Simple Entry: Select the half note, hold the ALT key, and tap the 5 key on the numberpad to change it to a quarter note. Then, add the dot and the rest.
