I've seen this issue raised in the forum before, and all of the suggestions made have not worked for me. All of my music was converted from nwc format to xml before being imported into Finale, and I am now on Finale version 27, with the same problem I experienced with versions 25 and 26. No matter the tempo I set up, or change during the music, playback is always too slow when it goes through my Yamaha keyboard. If I play a piece multiple times in a row, sometimes the piece will freeze in the middle, then suddenly continue at the correct tempo. When that happens, I can then playback the piece several more times and it will continue at the correct tempo. The next day, however, it's back to playing too slow. Yet when I export the music to either midi or mp3 files, they play correctly, so I think I have notated things properly. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Without seeing the file, it is pretty hard. What steps did you take to fix it?

I have changed human playback to standard, none, and other styles. I have deleted, re-entered, and altered the time signatures back and forth, and I have used the edit filter to clear midi information. I have attached a file. There must be something I am doing incorrectly with all of my music. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tempo is as the expression says: 130. What sample rate are you using? What Buffer size?

P.S.: I just re-read your original post and I say you are talking about playing through an external keyboard. I am playing the internal sounds. So, try the internal sounds and see what behavior you get. Sending to an external keyboard may be having some sort of communication error. Are you syncing the clocks, or just using the keyboard for the sounds?

The questions you raised led me to the fix! Under MIDI Setup, I checked the boxes under MIDI Out for Enable Match On/Off, MIDI Sync and MTC. Now every song is playing at the correct tempo, including when the tempo changes. Thanks!

I celebrated too soon. While I was able to playback 14 songs all at the correct tempos, even when changing tempos during the music, the next day I tried to play them, they all reverted back to playing too slow. Since I had changed nothing from one day to the next, how come the playback is back to playing too slow? I do not understand what I am doing wrong.

My sample rate is (was) 41,000. Then, in Windows Updates, the Realtek drivers updated about a week ago. Guess what? It changed the sample rate to 48,000. I anticipated that, and immediately changed it back to 41,000. I'm not saying that's your problem, but something to check.

You were correct, Zuill, that the sample rate had been changed to 48,000. I just changed it back to 41,000, but the songs continue to play back too slowly. Then I went into Finale under audio setup and changed the output sample rate from 44,100 to 48,000 and the music is now playing at the correct tempo. So my Realtek Audio Console lists the default sample rate as 44,100 but Finale bumps it up to 48,000 and things are OK at this point in time. I'm confused as hell, but I'll take it! We'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks again!
