I am entering a score and in several places it has comments like in the trumpet part I see "Cue: Horn" or in the clarinet part It well say Cue: Flute" There is also a set of notes written in grace note style. Can some one tell me what this means.

Either if 2 things:

1)After a long rest, it helps give you a cue to hear that gets you ready to start playing again.

2) Sometimes a player needs to cover the music for an instrument (player) in the ensemble that might be missing.

The “grace” notes may be an ossia; an alternative to the passage.

If you can post a screenshot, we may be able to narrow it down.

Cues are usually reduced in size (I use 75%). That may be all that is being seen.

+1

Adding little cues like this in parts can be tremendously helpful for a player who has had a long period of resting--especially if they've been doing things like changing instruments. It helps prevent a lot of wrong entrances, especially if you add the little cue notes to show what the other players are doing right before you make your entrance.

Here is a picture not very clear. If you look at the top you can see Allegro and below that Cue:Hn1. And just down Below the middle, you will see play.

Just like we said. It helps during a long period of rest to know what's going on to help in knowing when to play.
