Percussion Sounds

Why are so many percussion sounds so quit. And how do I make them louder. When I play some back by there self's I can barely here them.
Like bells, chimes, triangles or sleigh bells.
I so playing around with jingle bells but I had a hard time trying to get the sleight bells so I could here them in the back round. I only instrument that I had playing so the piano.
