(The music sounds like the Sabre Dance by Arám Xačaturján)

I suppose that you are talking about the horizontal music spacing - right?
And you mean the second beat where the triplet widens the spacing - right?

1) If you lock the system with fewer measures in it, the spacing may be more even.

2) To get a more even spacing you could try a lower Scaling Factor:
Document Options > Music Spacing > Spacing Widths
The default Scaling factor is the Golden Ratio (= 1.618).
Try a lower Scaling Factor, like e. g. the square root of 2:
1.414

3) It might also help that you increase the Reference Width.
The default Reference Width is 21pt - try e. g. 36pt.

4) You can also move the beats manually:
Measure Tool. Handles appear on all the measure’s Right Barlines.
Click the lower handle, to make the Beat Chart appear.
You can drag the (lower) Beat Chart handles.

First your Right. It is Sabre Dance by Aram Khachaturian.

Second you miss the mark. It is the placement of the notes. I end up with extra rest when I do it. Also why does the triplets have 4 notes not 3. I been trying to do this with 2 layers but it will not come out the sheet music. Or am I wrong for doing it in layers.

The rest is the appropriate one to complete the second beat of the layer in which you have placed the single eighth note and can be made to disappear within Speedy Edit frame by selecting it and typing O.

My way of entering the notes is not coming out as their way.

I'm sure it could be done more easily is Speedy, using voices, but this is how I did it in Simple.

Layer one: Entered the high D quarter and eighth, then eighth rest and half rest. (The rests can be moved or hidden, but I didn't bother.)

Layer two: Enter normally.

Flip the stem of the first high D, flip ties as needed.

I guess I should take some time to learn speedy. But right now, I would be happy to get this in the right way. I see that your eight note is tied to your triplet. Mine is not. Am I doing something wrong?

In your attachment you have entered the triplet on Beat 1.

You should enter a Quarter on Beat 1.
The triplet on Beat 2.

My guess is that the triplet should be
3 Sixteenths in the space of 2 Sixteenths
so that Beat 2 is
{triplet beamed to an Eighth}.

You’re missing the quarter note between the triplet+eighth and the four sixteenths, on beat three.

Make sure that this music gets proofed before you give it to your client.

LOL, my client is me. I do this because I like music, I am retired and I get board. For some reason I enjoy doing this. My daughter doesn't understand Why I buy music sheets and books. Then copy them into Finale. But there is some kind of satisfaction that I get when it all comes together.

The biggest satisfaction is when a do a score and make it all work to my satisfaction. As you all know just writing is only part of the fun tweaking it and making changes that work and makes it sound better to your ears is where the real satisfaction comes in.

Thanks to all who have help and for your patience in putting up with me.
