I thought that I had figure out how to handle triplets. Then I run into this one. As always any help will do. I enter it in as 3 eights in a quarter space. But won't work.

You mean the triplet that ends a measure - right?

Ending a measure with a triplet is a well known issue, and the solution is simple:
Finale offers several ways to enter tuplets.
Either
- enter the triplet in another way (like e. g. with the Speedy Entry Tool) that works right away,
or
- if you insist on entering tuplets in your way, go to
Simple menu > Simple Entry Options…
and de-select {Check for Extra Notes}.

Thank you That worked just find. If I had study music I would use the speedy way. But I did not. Now at 75 there is no interest in doing so. So I buy sheet music and enter it in Finale. Then change it to my liking. It is a time killer since I retired and I love my music.

In Simple, mousing it in works as well. My usual Simple method from the QWERTY keyboard does not.

I also suggest that you set your triplet as 3 eighths in the space of 2 eighths, rather than 1 quarter. I know it's the same thing, but it seems to work better for me.
