Hello,
I'm having trouble writing some special music notation.

Could someone help me and explain how I can write this piece of music in Finale.

I am also sending a scanner with the musical score, where you can see what I say.

Thank you in advance for your help and understanding.
Sorry for my bad English,

Greetings from Portugal,

Crassius

Look in your help files for Cross-Staff notation.

Enter all the notes in the treble staff. Use the Note Mover tool, and in the Note Mover menu, select cross staff. Click in that measure of the treble staff, and you will get a handle on each note. Just drag the F and the A to the lower staff.

I think it's even easier than that. Just hold Alt and press the down arrow on any selection.

But is it possible (with the Selection Tool) to select just the two lower notes in a chord?

Ah: good point. I guess that's why we still have the Note Mover tool, as a vestige of the pre-2008 pair of 'Engine and Tender' tool icons.

I've been working on a joke for a decade about Finale leaving its users with a tender behind, but it still needs some work.

That doesn't work for me. Am I missing something?

That's for the other kind of cross-staff, where notes are beamed together between the two staves.

Mike, are you selecting with the Simple Entry Tool?

You must use the Selection Tool, to select the beat(s) you need to ’cross staff’.
Then, hold down the Option key, and hit the DownArrow key, to ’cross staff’ the selected down into the staff below.

Option-Arrow activates the Cross Staff plug-in.

How can you select just the A and F# but not the D with the Selection tool if you want to do this?

Exactly,

See my previous post (answering BuonTempi who suggested the keyboard shortcut Option-Arrow).
Option-Arrow affects all the notes in the selected beat.

But it seems that Mike Rosen could not get Option-Arrow to work at all.

Not so. I was unable to move a single note cross-staff. The entire chord moved with the Opt-down arrow.
