Changing noteheads

I'm trying to change solid round noteheads to "X" noteheads in a section of a percussion staff with hand claps. The handclaps notehead Finale initially provides is a solid triangle--like the one I'd use for a triangle. Document Options shows me that the notation font is Engraver font set 24 plain. In the Change Noteheads utility, I'm finding all the highlighted noteheads in the measures I want to change, and I'm checking "X Notehead," but the utility changes the noteheads to a square with a question mark (attached illustration). What am I doing wrong?

Set the Percussion Noteheads font setting in Document Options (not the Noteheads font) to Engraver font set 24 plain and then the utility will work.
