Selecting the Lowest Note in a Chord
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
One frustration I repeatedly run into is when I've draw some lower notes and they start to enter the space of the staff below. I'm no longer able to click them directly because Finale believes I am trying to insert information on a different staff. I'm curious if there are any shortcuts for highlighting those low notes.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "highlighting" them, but you could move the staves further apart, or enter the notes an octave higher and either press Shift+down-arrow after each one to move it down an octave, or select the measures afterward in the Selection tool and press 8 to move all at once.

hthaw,
You are using the Simple Entry Tool - right?
Take a look at
Simple menu > Simple Navigation Commands > Selection Down
Note that the sub-menu displays a keyboard shortcut for {Selection Down}.
You can select a higher notehead (up inside the staff), and then move the selection down to the lower notehead.
By The Way:
The command even works for moving the selection to a note in the staff down below (if the document is a multi-staff document)
