For some reason in Finale 27, the window icons for rests and articulations and such are lighter, whereas in 26 they were just black. Is there any way to change this? Obviously it's a minor thing but it's weird that they changed it and it makes it look like it's at a lower resolution than it was.

I see that you have selected the best toolbar color (B&W). If your new version of Finale is on the same computer, and the display resolution is identical but menu items contrast is poorer, and the brightness and contrast settings are optimal, you might be able to replace the bitmaps and system file that governs Finale's toolbar, copying the specific files from the older version. But doing so will probably require you get help from MakeMusic's Zendesk...hopefully get a knowledgeable tech. The worst that can happen is a need to reinstall Finale (unless you have an app like the excellent Acronis TrueImage utility that includes a "Try & Decide" mode). Have you played with the settings in Preferences?

You're right that in 27, the tool icons look like crappy photocopies of the ones in v26.

MM got rid of any choices for the toolbar, save "bigger" or "Smaller" some time ago. (Though most of the choices were fairly awful by any graphic design standards.)

You're on a Mac, and the icon resources are inside the Finale.app bundle:

/Applications/Finale.app/Contents/Resources/images/PaletteImages.xcassets

Previous versions used PNG bitmap images, but v27 is using PDF, presumably so they scale well to any size/display. You won't be able to swap old icons over, but you could modify the files yourself. ("Always make a copy before starting.")
