I've been using Finale for 17 years. I just traded up to v27. In the past I was able to highlight a section of a text block and convert it to italic, but in v27 when I do that it changes all of the text in that text block to italic. I want a text block to have mixed Roman and Italic.

Highlight the text you want to change and then click "Text" in the menu bar (not the text block icon). The font selection screen will pop up and only the highlighted text will be changed with the selected font. I checked both v27 and v2014 and they work the same way.

Thanks, heinzfan.
I've discovered that the issue only occurs when using Finale's preset text blocks (Title, subtitle, composer, copyright, etc.) If I manually create a text block I am able to format multiple text styles within one text block.

I see what you mean, however v2014 has the same behavior. If you want to use the preset block and its attributes just double-click the control box, delete the highlighted text, and type whatever you want. You can then edit the font characteristics the same as if the block had been manually entered. It still seems like an extra unnecessary step, however.

That's great! Thanks!
Prior to trading up to v27, I was using Finale Allegro 2005. Amazingly it worked fine through multiple OS "upgrades".

You can certainly mix fonts, styles and sizes within a single text block that includes a title, just not within the title itself, which is a single entity.
