I am very new to Finale, and I recently downloaded the 30 free trial version of Finale v27 for macOS. I am trying to write a crash cymbals part for my score, but every time I try to playback the score, the sound of the crash cymbals is a completely different instrument. I'm not sure what instrument it even is. The sound that I want is two orchestral/concert cymbals being hit into each other. How do I fix this so that the correct sound plays during playback?

If unable to find a suitable percussion soundfont in Garritan or SmartMusic, try one of the many free but good VST plug-ins that are available for download online. Most of them work with Finale.
Should space permits, you can try combining different cymbals in a hidden layer, offest by, say, a 1/64 of a beat. In such instance, selecting only the instruments you want in a percussion map will simplify the task. If you need help creating a percussion map, I will be happy to lend a hand.
