How would one go about notating certain percussion concepts such as 1. when you rattle a shaker as opposed to just keep the beat with it. or 2. when you randomly move your fingers around a set of chimes to make a mystical fairydust sound, or 3 a glissando on a harp? (i guess that last one isnt percussion).
Please help.

I can answer the harp question. I'll take a look at the others later.
I found two ways to get a harp glissando. The easy one is to use the glissando articulation tool between the starting and ending notes. It's covered in the help file. The other method was to write out the articulation explicitly. I'd place a quarter note or something for all the notes of the glissando then on the preceding note (quarter note), each note would be written as a 32nd note, then two 32nd notes then more until each note of the glissando was explicitly written (with each note tied to the next note to make things sustain.) It was tedious but the program could play it.
Of course, I'd copy the pattern for later use then just move notes up and down to transpose the glissando/
