It's been a while since I used Finale and am getting back into the fray lol...
I can't remember for the life of me how to do ghost or pre bends.
I do remember asking in a previous (now deleted) Finale chat-group but I can't find the thread.
Thanks for any help.

I suppose that you mean the vertical arrow before the bend - right?

Smart Shape Tool.
Sub-tool Custom Line Tool.

Hold down CTRL, and click on the Custom Line Tool icon.

Create a custom line with arrowhead.

Thank you Peter, I am now able to make the arrow yet I'm not sure how to notate tab-wise the 7th fret sounding like 9th fret. I want the 9 to show as 7. I tried using a grace note but that isn't right either.

I modified a bend and release to get this, still not the rhythm I want though. So I guess I forgot how to notate the numbers and/or rhythm

Actually I think that was the trick! I was starting to pull my hair out, haha! Thank you! The only thing is I had to use the space of three 8th notes as opposed to two. How should I notate that? for playback...
*Edit* I think I've got that also...

Here's my dilemma, Not sure how to make a pre-bend on the second note without adding an extra note, text, or parentheses. The top image with parentheses and 1/2 fraction above.

highlife66,

I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale sample document here, with the problem.

In that way we can examine your document, and find out what you are doing wrong.
And suggest solutions that will work for you.

Peter, Thank you very much for your help! I figured out what I was doing wrong by slowing down and using 8ths, quarters, and half notes and inputting different fret locations to see how finale responded. I also made a custom line w "Full" at the end.

Now the protocol is making much more sense.

I would like four quarter notes with full bends on the 2nd and 4th, not sure why the bend starts from 5th instead of the 7th fret.

I am not sure why, but it seems that Human Playback automatically plays a bend with interval size twice the size of the written interval size.

In your example the written interval size is 1 tone (= 2 semitones, from 7 to 9).

Human Playback doubles this size, and plays a bend of 2 tones (= 4 semitones).

To end at the written ending pitch (= 9) Human Playback plays a bend with a beginning pitch 2 tones (4 semitones) below the ending pitch (= beginning at 5, going to 9).

At this point I don't mind as I only print copies for my students.
