I need help getting Finale 26.3 for Windows to notate a tuplet.
I've tried this unsuccessfully many times, using a computer that has just booted Windows 10 and with Finale 26.3 just opened.
In a section barred in 3/4 I want one measure to have five quarter notes.
The first thing I do is place a quarter note or rest in the measure.
The next thing I do is click on the note or rest, open the tuplet tool, and ask it to fit five quarters into the measure, as shown.
Finale always responds as shown:
Just for the record, I expected Finale to put 5 rests inside that bracket instead of 3.
If I start adding quarter notes to the bracket, Finale lets me keep going as far as 4. It error-dings when I try to add a fifth.
Finale _will_ let me add a fifth note if that note is an eighth note, as shown.
Of course, that's not what I want. I want five quarter notes.
But it looks like that's beyond the capabilities of Finale 26.3 for Windows.
Has anyone found a work-around?

If you used Simple Entry (frequent problems at the end of the measure), try Speedy.

It's not doing that on my Mac, and I haven't seen any other reports of that happening on Windows.
After entering your first note, while it's still selected, tap ALT-9 on your numberpad. That should let you set it up correctly.
Here's a tutorial I did a few years back:

I got the tuplets I wanted using the speedy entry tool with the keypad. Clunky compared to the tuplet tool -- you have to keep deleting unwanted triple-dotted 64th rests, etc -- but the tuplet tool thinks it's doing the math right, so it doesn't work, whereas the speedy entry tool lets user actions override Finale math, so it works! Thanks everyone.

Don't use the Tuplet tool for this--that's where you're running afoul. Stay in Simple (or Speedy) entry and use the tuplet commands from within the entry tool, following Mike's instructions.

I don't know what you're doing in Speedy entry, but all you need do is press Ctrl-5 (before entering any notes, unlike Simple entry) and then enter five quarter notes. There should be no triple-dotted 64th rests.
