Dear all,

So far I always found my answers on this forum but this time I'm puzzled.
I installed Finale 2014 on my laptop to continue the work I was doing on my computer.
I open the very same file I was working on with the same version of Finale 2014, just using my laptop instead of my desktop computer and I get this. Seems like Finale is using some kind of symbol font instead of notes?
Would you please share your wisdom with me on this?
Thanks!

In the Document menu, Set Default Music Font, what does it say? Do you have that font on your laptop?

You did reboot after installation, right? If not, try that first.

Otherwise, as Motet suggests, find out if the font is installed on your computer. If Finale can find it, easy to select. If Finale can't but it exists on your laptop, you need to establish a path to it. Since you already have 2014 on another Windows computer (you do, don't you?), this should be easy.

If a 3rd party font, you'll need to install it on the laptop, of course.

My first inclination would be to reinstall and reboot first. After a decade and a half of Windows support, I was always amazed how often that worked.

It's Maestro Font Default.ftmx

I guess that font comes with the installation?

Does it really say that? Here's what mine looks like when I pull down Document/Set Default Music Font:

It did, but where you have symbols showing up, with me it was blank.
I just now copied the Finale maestro fonts from the one computer to the laptop and the problem seems to be fixed!
Thanks for your help!
