I started using Finale in 1998. After installing v27 I discovered layout infelicities (such as accidentals overlapping or crashing into previous notes, dyads of seconds that both claim priority on a shared stem and cover each other up, etc.) that never happened in Finale 98 or any other Finale version I have used through v26. Is there a switch or setting for v27 Windows that allows one to achieve basic acceptable default layout such as other notation programs, even the most elementary, have and that Finale used to have?

When I upgraded to a later version, my old scores suffered a myriad of similar issues. The only resolution I found was to reformat the documents by converting them to MusicXML files then saving them as regular files. This procedure solved a lot of problems, but scattered articulations and expressions that required extensive work to move them back into place. The stability gained outweighed the labor.
