I added some instruments today. As you can see The last violin that I added is in some kind of shaded part. I can add any notes in this area. Why? What happen?

You'll either have to use a bigger page size, close some of the space between staves and/or systems, or scale everything a little smaller.

Hello! I'm not sure I'm asking this question in the right chat thread but this is my first time ever using Finale Forum. I'm seeking some advice or suggestions to do with the sound (timbre) of violins on my Finale version 27.4. The last post 'gray is invading my work' is not specifically about violin sound, but I can see violins in your composing screenshot! I've starting composing for chamber orchestra and I love the sound of all the instruments (wind and string) except the violins. Except when in 'pizzicato' mode, they sound awful! Like a bee trapped in an empty tin can! I've tried switching from MIDI to VST and I've also experimented with REVERB in the playback link but without success. I'm using an up-to-date Windows operating system on a fairly recent Hewlett Packard laptop. Can someone offer me a suggestion. I would love to hear a more mellow violin sound, not a scratchy bee in a tin! Thanks in anticipation. Paul

Welcome to the forum. Really, you should start a new thread, as the connection to this one is pretty tenuous!

If you don't like the Garritan instruments that come with Finale, then you'll need to buy another sound library. I'd recommend NotePerformer, which is universally acclaimed as far superior to Garritan, as it also has "phrasing logic".

Thank you Buon Tempi. Your reply is helpful and I will definitely look into 'noteperformer'. As for starting a new thread, how do I do it?
