How do I get the simple entry rest palette to show alongside the simple entry palette? I see that I can enter a rest by clicking on "tools," then "simple entry rest palette," but this is really cumbersome way of adding rests. Any way to get the rests in a drop-down menu like the notes?

Thanks!

If you have a numberpad, simple tapping the 0 (zero) will enter a rest of your chosen duration. Change duration for both notes and rests with the numberpad: 4=eighth note, 5=quarter, 6=half, and 7 equals a whole note.

You really don't need the rest palette.

I agree with Mike about learning the keypad keys (in which case you won't need the Simple Entry note palette either), but to answer your question, look in Preferences for the setting below. If you're really using Finale Notepad 2012 as your signature shows, though, it may or may not be there.

Great, thanks. Got it to work.
