Measure width Problems
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I'll select one measure or even multi measures with the measure tool activated. After the measure Attributes Dialog box pops up, I enter in the values, and it won't change the measure width at all.
i'll type in random values and the only ones it a will allow are the ones that increase the measure lengths to where they go off of the page or so small that all of the measures will be crammed into one another
This has happened before and i removed the system locks and then it worked, but now that majic trick aon't workin' anymore
Any suggestions?

Let's be scientific here.
A little information about your settings might be helpful:
Take a look in the Edit menu.
Is "Automatic Update Layout" toggled on or off?
Is "Automatic Music Spacing" toggled on or off?
Take a look in Options menu > Update Layout Options...
What are your settings in the Update Layout Options?
Take a look in Options menu > Document Options > Music Spacing.
What are your settings for "Minimum Measure Width" and "Maximum Measure Width"?

Do Not reflow is selectedPeter Thomsen wrote: What are your settings in the Update Layout Options?
Refow systems across pages and Automatic Update layout BOTH are not selected
Zero for minimum / 6.25 for maxPeter Thomsen wrote:What are your settings for "Minimum Measure Width" and "Maximum Measure Width"?
Another strange thing is that, I will select a measure and set the measure width for something like .05 and it will change it to a width of something close to 3. It's like it is interpolating the width many times over

6.25 of what unit?Caputo wrote:...Zero for minimum / 6.25 for max

.05 of what unit?
3 of what unit?
In Other Words:
Take a look at
Options menu > Measurement Units
A value of "6.25 for max" sounds like your Measurement Units are "Inches" or "Centimeters"?
Is the measure you select the last measure of a system?
Are there any Multimeasure Rests involved?
Are there any staves with Alternate Notation (Staff Tool)?

I selected both any measure and a last measure and the same results or non-results as mentioned above no matter which measure is selectedPeter Thomsen wrote:Is the measure you select the last measure of a system?
It's weird, I will punch in .001(in) for measure 1, and it will shrink that measure way down, but when I do it on the last measure, it won't do anything
NonePeter Thomsen wrote:Are there any Multimeasure Rests involved?
The staves have a staff style applied in rhythmic notationPeter Thomsen wrote:Are there any staves with Alternate Notation (Staff Tool)?
But now I am trying this on any measure on various staff styles and the problem is global
Another weird thing is that it won't let me drag the measure handles
It's like when I drag, the measure won't move, and then when I release, it will make one measure the entire length of the page while pushing the other ones off
Also, when I attempted to add width of .002 (inches) to a normal size measure, it stretched the measure across the page and pushed the other ones off, too
Thanks,
Geoff J

Caputo,
This is definitely not a normal behaviour in a Finale document.
So now I suspect some sort of file corruption.
Do you get the same, weird behaviour in a new, empty Finale document, or does the problem only occur in this particular document?
Could you e-mail me a sample file?
Peter
