I have two staffs at the bottom of my score for piano, but only one of them actually "says" piano. How do I change those two staffs into one piano staff? (The piece starts out with both staffs in treble clef). When I try to use "Change instrument" to change it to piano, it adds a staff between the two. If I delete the empty (Bass clef) staff, it just reverts to two unconnected lines - see attached).

Use the Staff tool > staff menu > Groups and Brackets > add… to combine the last two staves into a group with their own Grand Staff bracket, and lines drawn between staves.

You will find more detailed instructions in your Help files.

BTW, why are you using layer three for those notes? Each staff can accommodate all 4 layers.

It may be too late, but next time, if you use the Score Manager to add the piano, it sets it up for you.
