Hi,

I have Finale 2007. I'm writing a song that's in C major using the Hyperscribe tool. Every single time I play C# it writes it as Db. Is there a way to make it write only sharps for accidentals instead of flats? OR, is there a way that I can define the rules for the key of C major? Hope you can help.

Thanks,
Mike

You don't tell, whether you are using the Windows version or the Macintosh version?

In the Macintosh version the spelling settings are located in

Finale 2007 menu > Preferences > Enharmonic Spelling

You can tell Finale to "Favor Sharps", or "Favor Flats".

Or you can define your own spelling table so that the pitch between C and D will always be spelled as C#, whereas the pitch between A and B will always be spelled as Bb, &c.
