I have inserted a couple of repeats into a composition, and in both cases there are 1st- and 2nd-time endings (all two bars in length). The problem is that during playback, the first repeats function normally, but then when repeating Finale plays the 1st-time ending in addition to the 2nd-time ending, i.e., it doesn't 'skip' the 1st-time ending. What can I do to fix this?

The easy way:

Instead of creating the repeat endings manually, let the Repeat Tool do the job.

Select the two measures that should be in the first ending, and go to
Repeat menu > Create First and Second Ending
