A question dealing with the Finale program itself, rather than how to use it.
I assume the letters a, b, c etc. after the edition of the program, e.g., 2008a refer to updated versions of Finale. I have 2008a.r2. When I check for upgrades, I get a message telling me that I have the latest update, but I see that many of the people posting on the forum have 2008b. So what's the story...?

2008a is the latest update for Windows users.
2008a is also the latest relevant update for Mac OS X users with Mac OS X 10.4 or earlier.
The difference between 2008a and 2008b is that 2008b fixes some issues with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
If you have Mac OS X 10.4 or earlier, you can download and install the 2008b update, but the 2008b update is only relevant if you are about to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
