I am working on a score with a pickup of an 8th note. Currently the bars are numbered with the pickup as #1. I would like to displace the system so that the measure after the pickup is #1. Is this possible? Thanks

i don't know what version you are using, so hopefully this is the same in your program:

under the document menu, there is an option called "pickup measure" and if you use this to create the pickup measure, it should number them properly for you...

but to do it yourself, after having created the measure...
select the measure tool
under the measure menu select measure numbers - edit regions
this brings up the measure number dialog box
region 1 is already defined as including measure 1-999, change it to 2-999
it will still start counting from 1 but it wont count the first measure now.

If you are looking for more advanced bar numbering options check out these tutorials I've made at my site:

http://thefinaleschool.com/xmlpages/other.html

I've made 3:

Measure Numbers (Advanced)
Measure Numbers (regions)
Measure Numbers (simple)

Let me know what you think.
