Still having problems with repeats !!
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hope someone won't mind helping me out.
I am trying to get a rondeau to play properly in playback, but am having difficulty with the repeat settings.
The playback route should read:
1-9
1-22
1-9
23-42
1-9
but there are a few problems, including that of the first 9 bars not being initially repeated.
I am using a text definition 'au rondeau' in bars 22 and 42, and there is a backward repeat in bar 9. But I am confuses as to the jumps etc.

Florio,
I think that the attached Finale 2010 document plays back as desired.
Take a look at it.

Your solution works perfectly, Peter.
I certainly don't want to take advantage of your kindness, but could I possibly ask you to give me a hand with another Rondeau, which is considerably more complex?
#1 - 15, then 16 (first time bar)
#1 - 15, then 17 (second time bar)
18 - 35
#1 - 15, then 36 (third time bar)
37 - 52
#1 - 15, then 53 (fourth time bar)
54 - 115
#1 - 15, then 17 (second time bar, which is also marked FIN)
I think it's the jumps and target measures that are messing me up, but I can't get the piece to play through as it should. I dont think the instructions in the user manual are nearly as straightforward as they could be!!

Here are two different solutions.
When you compare the two solutions you should note an important difference between them, namely how the endings have their Target defined (Next Ending or Measure #).

Once again your solutions are spot on. But I still cannot understand exactly the mechanism underlying the repeat settings.
One last query:
In the final rondeau of the [massive] suite I'm editing, the playback route should be:
1 - 8
1 - 36
37 - 52
37 - 90
1 - 36
and so it's obviously much simpler than the other ones I've asked you about. And yet I cannot get the piece to stop at bar 36 on the final play through (using text repeats, i.e Fin). Don't know what I'm doing wrong here, as everything else seems to be in place.

Indeed, it's much simpler than the other ones.
I don't understand why you can't get the piece to stop at measure 36 on the final play through.
Here's my shot at it.

I know this reply is 13 years after the fact, but thank you, Peter!
