I add a measure, creating a new page and the score for the instruments run right off the new page, disabling my visibility for over half of the instruments. The measures on the third page im adding are huge! I tried looking in the forums but with little insight  . I'm using finale 2009.

The issue here is not only the page format, but also the system format.

You need to update the document setting for the formatting of new systems/pages:

1) Page Layout Tool.
Page Layout menu > Update Page Format for Score
(It should be on by default, just make sure it is on)

2) Go to the second page (= the page where the format is right).
Click a system to select it.
Page Layout menu > Systems > Edit Margins...

3) In the dialog box Edit System Margins, change one of the margins to something else.
Change it back to the original value, but don't change it back with Undo!
This step will trigger the automatic function "Update Page Format for Score".
Close the dialog box.

4) Page Layout menu > Redefine Pages > All Pages of Current Part/Score

I've actualy been trying this and it makes everything too big. Any redefining of pages makes them big.

To find the culprit we need you to attach a (small) .mus sample document with the problem.

To make the sample document small (and to avoid Copyright issues) I suggest that you clear the music from the sample document.

Also, you must compress the sample document (e. g. as a .zip file) before you can upload it here.

Try this fix:

Go to Page 1 (since that is the page with the desired resizing)

Resize Tool (% icon).

Click inside a system (between the staves).
The dialog box "Resize Staff System" appears.
If you get one of the other "Resize..." dialog boxes, you have clicked in the wrong place.
Workaround: Instead of trying to click in the right spot, use the context menu.

From the dialog box "Resize Staff System" you can resize the entire document to the desired size.
You can also Update Page Format" so that all new pages/systems will get the desired resizing.

See the attached screen shot.

Finale 25
Windows 10

I have had the same problem and followed the instructions given above. The final solution given worked for me.
