Windows 11--Finale was loading instantaneously until I Reset all Preferences. Now it takes a full two minutes to load. I've read all the old posts about Windows Security>Manage Settings>Exclusions, etc., etc. I excluded everything remotely associated with Finale and MakeMusic, but it doesn't help. What's up? Could it be something in the McAfee antivirus software? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Assuming you're running Windows Security, disable McAfee and see. But it's mysterious that resetting preferences would cause it. Does resetting preferences mess with the audio setup? If it's pointing to some non-existent device, that might explain it. In Preferences/Folders, are all the settings pointing to extant folders?

I just discovered that it might have something to do with the speakers. I opened a Finale file and got a message that the audio engine failed to load. (Attached) That was because I had enabled headphones, but had neglected to plug them in. So when I clicked OK, Finale opened instantly.
So I closed Finale, plugged in my headphones, and opened a file. It took two minutes to load.
The same thing happened with the speakers. I disabled both headphones and speakers, and Finale opened right away. Then I enabled speakers, and it took two minutes to load.
Thanks for any suggestions you have.

If it used to work then you likely had the audio settings set to something different. Experiment. There's the audio driver as well as the output source. There aren't that many possibilities.
