A little more detail, please? Does the narrator speak in time? If not, does the narrator speak over music, during rests, between sections? If not in time, some use of the Text Tool is probably going to be what you need.

I've never written one myself but I have played several in fact we are doing one Monday. But if it is in time, rhythm, I would do it like lyrics. If it is just over a certain number of measures, say 8 or 16, I would simply use a text block or an expression.

Thanks, all. My narrator speaks in different places, but never in rhythm. Sometimes over the music, sometimes before a movement begins, sometimes after the movement is over. So, with your help, I put some space between the percussion and first violins, and wrote the narrator's part with the Expression Tool. That way, the narrator's lines always stay where I put them and I can retrieve them whenever I need them. versus using the Text Tool. However, I haven't figured out yet what I'm going to do about parts. Thanks again.

It sounds like you do not know of measure/staff attached text blocks.
A text block can be page attached or measure/staff attached.
If you add a text block from Page View, the text block will by default be page attached.
If you add a text block from Scroll View, the text block will by default be measure/staff attached.
When a text block has been created, it has a text block handle.
When the text block handle is selected, hit Shift-Return (or use the Text menu) to open the text block’s Frame Attributes.
In the Frame Attributes you can edit the text block’s positioning settings.
