I'm using several chords with bass notes to the right of a slash, such as, Dm7/F. Is there a way in Finale 2004 to get the bass note underneath rather than to the right?

Thanks for the help.

You can have a horizontal line separating the chord and the bass : select alternate bass and in the pull-down menu, "under root".
However, this horizontal line is often interpreted as 2 chords superimposed (the lower note could be understood as a major triad), rather than a chord with a bass note.
If you want an oblique line and the bass note slightly under it (and that would mean just a chord over a bass note), select "as subtext". This option was added in recent versions of Finale, I know it's available in version 2005, but in 2004, I don't know...

Thank you so much. That works in 2004. While I didn't care about the score being heard in playback, I like the look of the subtext better anyway, so that's what I used. I also discovered that I can move the chords around to better position them in "Manual Input". I have only been using "Type Into Score". This solved a lot of problems I have been having. I'm deeply indebted to you!

In Type Into Score, use an underline _ instead of a slash /.

The oblique slash, but with the bass a bit lower, can be obtained on my Mac (which uses an azerty kb) with Caps lock/option/Letter L.
Not very convenient as it involves many keystrokes, but maybe a qwerty keyboard is different, and a PC, too.
I would prefer an easier keyboard shortcut...
