Hi, whatever program/version you're using, look up Multimeasure Rests in the Help file.

Hi,

I've got finale 2010.

I can find the multimeasure rest but I can't select anything, they are grey... So what's next...

Thanks in advance!

Select the measures first, then apply the Multimeasure rest.

But as Peter said, you could have found this out by reading the Help files.

Hmm, yes, I did find it out but it's not working the way I want it.

This is an example how I want to use it:

Is it also possible not in pageview but also in studio view to see it like this?

I had no trouble doing it in PrintMusic (except that I couldn't do some of the chords.)

You can only see the multimeasure rests in Page View.

I'm sorry, "PrintMusic" is that just: Print (like in printing) or a special plugin?

Finale is a family of programs; the "full version" Finale has several little brothers : PrintMusic, Allegro, Songwriter, Notepad.
Maybe you should tell us which version (+ year) you are using.

About multimeasure rests : all the measures should actually exist, and they should all really be empty. Then you select the whole document and create multimeasure rests (via the contextual menu for instance).

PrintMusic is a cut-down version of the full Finale. So anything I can do in PM, you can do that and lots more in Finale!

If you have NotePad or Songwriter, they are even more limited versions. But anything from Songwriter up can do the mm rests.

If you are still having problems, remember that the measures must be EMPTY, containing just the default rests. If you have entered rests in the measures, it won't work.

Using the selection tool, click in the first measure to select it. Shift-Click in the fourth measure. All four measures should now be selected. Right-click somewhere in the selected measures. From the drop-down menu, choose Multimeasure Rests>Create. that should do it!
