It seems tremendously clumsy to notate passages in dotted eights and sixteenths, because for each note you have to change the rhythmic value (eighth to sixteenth and vice versa) and also you have to put the dot on one note and then turn it off for the next, etc. etc.
Is there some way to speed up this process? Is there any plug in that is designed to do this?
BTW, since I am working in the classical realm, I cannot do as the jazz players do and write just straight eighths.
Thanks very much.

How are you entering the notes? When I do that from the QWERTY keyboard, changing durations from the numberpad, it really isn't that bad: I enter 4, note, ., 3, note and repeat. If you have a long series of them, fill one measure, and do a paste multiple for as long as you need. Then, use the Repitch tool to very quickly change the notes.

1) Enter all the notes as 8ths.roysonne wrote:It seems tremendously clumsy to notate passages in dotted eights and sixteenths, because for each note you have to change the rhythmic value (eighth to sixteenth and vice versa) and also you have to put the dot on one note and then turn it off for the next, etc. etc.

2) MIDI Tool.
Highlight the region in question.
Choose Edit Note Durations.
Choose Alter Feel...
3) With Absolute checked, in the Backbeat slot enter 256.
Click OK.
4) Make sure Quantization Settings (in the MIDI/Audio menu) has 16th notes or smaller selected.
5) In the MIDI/Audio menu, choose retranscribe.

Thanks Peter and Miker for your replies. I'll try them both and let you know.
Mostly I enter music using a midi keyboard and simple entry. Sometimes I use speedy entry. Often for editing speedy entry seems more friendly.
What is the repitch tool and where do I find it?
Thanks again.
